National Postdoc Appreciation Week 2022
During the week of Monday, September 19 - Friday, September 23, the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) invites all postdoctoral trainees to join us in celebrating National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW)! NPAW is an annual celebration of the vital contributions postdocs make to the university and our community. It is a time to welcome new postdocs to our diverse and talented community and to celebrate past successes with our returning postdocs!
Below is a comprehensive list of NPAW events and giveaways that are free and open to all Northwestern postdoctoral trainees courtesy of the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and the Northwestern University Postdoctoral Association (NUPA).
NPAW Kickoff (September 17)
Postdoc Appreciation Picnic

Join us for a beautiful outdoor event with free food, family-friendly activities, exciting entertainment, and free giveaways for all attendees! Families are welcome and encouraged to attend!
Please RSVP for the picnic! We are excited to announce that an additional raffle drawing will be held for all postdocs who RSVP AND attend the picnic! Additional prizes from the Northwestern Bookstore will be awarded to two lucky winners! Winners of the raffle and the early registration raffle will be notified after the picnic.

Daily Giveaway (September 19–23)
Presented by the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA)
In celebration of NPAW 2022, the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) is giving away 10 daily prizes to Northwestern postdoctoral trainees.
Each day during NPAW, the OPA will announce 10 winners and notify them via email. Winners must be able to pick up their prize on either the Evanston or Chicago campuses following NPAW.
To enter this raffle, please complete this form by 11:59 PM on Thursday, September 22. Please submit your entry by Sunday, September 18 to increase your chances of winning.
Please note: only one prize will be awarded per postdoc. You only need to submit one entry to be considered for each daily giveaway.

The Improv-Interview Mindset: Virtual Interview Skills

Join instructor Byron Stewart for "The Improv-Interview Mindset: Virtual Interview Skills," which will help incorporate the principles of theatrical improvisation into key interview skills that participants can use when applying for jobs in the new remote environment. With an improv mindset, your objective is to keep in the flow, to stay energized and interested, to find opportunities to tell your good stories, to connect with the interviewers, and to be okay with not knowing.
Attendees to this interactive virtual workshop will learn a variety of new skills, boost their self-confidence, learn how to improve their ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively during job interviews and standing out online. Space is limited, so please RSVP!

The NUPA Book Club meets on the fourth Wednesday each month over Zoom to discuss the Book Club Read for that month. While hosted by NUPA, you do not have to be a NU postdoc to join them! NUPA does ask the attendees to have some connection to either Northwestern or be a postdoc at another institution to join.
