Postdoctoral Research Position in Correlates of Immune Protection in Congenital Viral Infections

The Mohr Laboratory at the University at Wisconsin-Madison is looking for a highly-motivated postdoctoral researcher to join their team in studying antibody responses in congenital viral infections. Their laboratory focuses on the correlation of antibody protection in congenital virus infection using a translational macaque model.

They currently have an opportunity for a postdoc in an ongoing project that aims to characterize the features of the antibody response during pregnancy and in infancy that correlate with improved virologic outcomes. This project combines standard virologic techniques with bioinformatics.

Other fields of research in the lab pertain to associating neural pathways with longitudinal functional outcomes in infant macaques exposed to congenital viral infections. Specific duties of this postdoctoral research position include designing and developing research methodologies aimed at defining antibody responses associated with improved virologic outcomes, contribution to related ongoing research projects, preparation of talks and participation in seminars, and drafting reports, grant applications and papers for publication.

Required Qualifications
  • PhD or equivalent (completed by start of employment) in molecular biology, virology, immunology, bioinformatics, microbiology or any other relevant scientific discipline
  • Experience with bioinformatics using programming languages
  • Training in standard virological culture techniques and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English Desired qualifications:
  • Scientific publications
  • Experience in interdisciplinary research and working in collaborative teams
  • Experience with programming language R
