Job Summary.

They are looking for an enterprising Scientific & Technical Lead. The Scientific & Technical lead runs the scientific and technical aspects of the business including, but not limited to, designing protocols for and managing product pilot studies and in situ trials, presenting findings at meetings and symposia, and writing conference proceedings and journal papers.

Responsibilities

  • Design and oversee animal health pilot study protocols at a commercial scale
  • Find research and development funding opportunities and write applications and proposals
  • Identify potential university partners or corporate service providers for product pilot studies and in situ trials
  • Assess technical capabilities of potential product manufacturers and make recommendations on manufacturer selection
  • Review and vet qualifications and suitability of scientific board members and technical advisors
  • Manage activities of scientific and technical employees, consultants, and interns
  • Represent the company in a professional manner at scientific gatherings, business meetings, and press functions
  • Other duties as dictated by business needs

Competencies

  • World-class animal health and/or animal microbiome research ability
  • Strong business acumen or interest in developing such acumen
  • Proven outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Excellent listening, written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Ability to exercise mature judgment
  • Willingness to work on a somewhat unpredictable schedule, with evening and weekend hours
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally for scientific and business meetings and conferences

Education

Required: PhD in relevant scientific discipline and/or DVM

Preferred: Postdoctoral and/or university faculty research experience in a relevant scientific discipline; professional degree such as a JD or an MBA
