Apply to Be an Instructor for the 2025 EXCEL Program

Applications are now being accepted for Master students, PhD students (who are funded by fellowships or are graduating in Spring/Summer 2025) or postdoctoral scholars to work as instructors for the 2025 EXCEL summer programs.

The EXCEL summer programs are a five-week academic/residential program open to selected incoming Northwestern first year undergraduates in the McCormick School of Engineering and Weinberg College of Arts and Science. These programs provide rigorous academic preparation and develop a community of support among participants.

The EXCEL classes meet every day from Tuesday, June 24 – Friday, July 18 (not including the 4th of July). Instructors will lead one class section for 80 mins, Monday through Friday and hold office hours twice a week. Before the summer, instructors will design a syllabus with support from the EXCEL directors.

Instructors will receive $5,500 for designing and leading the course. The estimated class size would be 10-15 students. We are currently looking for instructors for our Engineering Analysis Preview course (Linear Algebra & MatLab), Calculus (differential single variable, integral single variable, and differential multivariable) and General Chemistry courses.
