Postdoctoral Research Opportunity – Otoacoustic Emissions, Auditory Periphery Aging, and Development of Diagnostic Tools

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Sumitrajit Dhar at Northwestern University in the Roxelyn and Richard Pepper Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. The focus of Dr. Dhar’s laboratory is in improving the diagnosis of hearing loss and hearing healthcare delivery.

Principal Accountabilities

  1. To conduct experiments for projects focused on otoacoustic emissions, aging of the auditory periphery and development of diagnostic tools.  
  2. To develop new techs to obtain grants and publications.
  3. To help write grants and compete for funding.
  4. To help write and contribute to publications resulting from research done in the lab.

Minimum Qualifications/Competencies: 

  • PhD in audiology, hearing science, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience conducting research in the auditory system.

Preferred Qualifications/Competencies: 

  • Experience using advanced signal processing, machine learning, and data science tools.
  • Experience with MATLAB, R, Python, etc.
  • Experience working with human subjects.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
