Postdoctoral Research Opportunity – Rheumatic Diseases in the Perlman Lab

Lab profile:

The Perlman Lab is a rheumatology lab with the aim of understanding various aspects of macrophages in the development of rheumatic diseases.

Description:

A postdoctoral position is available in the Harris Perlman Laboratory at Northwestern University's Division of Rheumatology in the Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. This role offers an exciting opportunity to study various aspects of macrophages in the development of rheumatic diseases.

Our research focuses on experimental models using genetically modified mice and cells derived from these mice, particularly macrophages. The primary aim is to uncover the molecular mechanisms that regulate innate immune signaling pathways and their roles in inflammatory diseases. Additionally, we conduct translational studies, including analyzing the transcriptional profiles of patients with various rheumatic diseases. This precision medicine approach aims to provide a deeper understanding of disease mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets.

Details about the applicant:

We are seeking highly motivated graduates with a PhD, MD/PhD, or MD degree, who possess a strong background in cellular and molecular innate immunology. Ideal candidates will have experience in flow cytometry, cellular and molecular techniques, and transcriptomics.

Applicants should demonstrate a good command of the English language, be available for an interview, and must be eligible to work in the United States. Our lab values collaboration, innovation, and dedication to advancing the understanding of rheumatic diseases.

Successful candidates will join a dynamic and supportive research environment, with access to state-of-the-art facilities and the opportunity to work on impactful projects that bridge basic and translational research.

Requirements:

  • PhD degree in fields such as immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, or a related discipline.

Required prior experience or areas of research interest.

  • Experience in flow cytometry, molecular techniques, and transcriptomics is preferred. Prior research in immunology, particularly related to innate immune signaling pathways and inflammatory diseases.

Interested candidates should e-mail a single PDF with 1) cover letter briefly describing their research interests and qualifications, 2) a curriculum vitae, and 3) the names and contact information for three references to Dr. Hadijat Makinde at hmakinde@northwestern.edu.
