Postdoctoral Training Opportunity – Transplant Immunology Research at the Zhang Lab

Postdoctoral and research scientist positions are available in the Zhang laboratory, based in the Comprehensive Transplant Center (CTC) and Department of Surgery at Northwestern University’s Chicago campus. The Zhang lab investigates cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury, allogeneic transplant rejection and cytomegalovirus reactivation from latency in the context of solid organ transplantation, focusing on roles of interactions between macrophages and endothelial cells in transplant I/R injury and allograft rejection.

Postdoctoral research scientists in the lab will conduct cutting-edge research using clinically relevant animal models in a highly collaborative environment, with access to shared facilities, including CTC microsurgery and preclinical research core, gene sequencing, bioinformatics, imaging, metabolomics, nanotechnology, and beyond.

Candidates should hold a PhD or equivalent degree with interest and expertise in cellular immunology and molecular biology, tissue injury and regeneration, and wet lab experience in animal models. Salary will be commensurate with experience, based on the National Institutes of Health NRSA scale.

Interested applicants should submit a CV, a cover letter that describes research interests and career goals, and a list of 3 references to Dr. Zheng Jenny Zhang at zjzhang@northwestern.edu

Recruitment is on a rolling basis until all positions are filled. The lab encourages national and international applicants from diverse backgrounds. Selected candidates will be invited for a remote interview with the PI.
