About the E4 Center

The Center for Education Efficacy, Excellence, and Equity (E4) is a new SESP applied research center partnering with Curriculum Associates (CA), a leading-edge online education company, and several urban school districts. The E4 Center will address educational excellence and equity through the development of an innovative research/practice partnership geared to produce evidence to improve outcomes for students with the greatest needs, especially given the impact of Covid-19. This unique partnership brings together SESP researchers, CA, and two urban school district partners to explore important research questions on student learning, with access to data and information on over 11 million children in our nation’s public schools who use CA interventions and tools to improve learning outcomes. Through this collaboration SESP education and social science researchers and the post-doctoral trainees-along with graduate students and undergraduates-will explore research questions and projects that have the potential to significantly improve teaching, learning, and student outcomes.

General Description

Appointment will be as post-doctoral fellow. This postdoctoral trainee is a full-time, twelve-month, benefits eligible appointment with a term from 9/1/22 through 8/31/23. The salary is competitive, and the workload will be 15-20 hours per week on E4. We expect that, with this light load, post-doctoral trainees will have considerable time to pursue their own research agendas; continued development of the post-doctoral’s research portfolio or line will be self-directed or occur in consultation with the E4 director. The fellow will have access to E4 data to conduct work that reflects the E4 research agenda. Given the needs of E4 Center, those to whom an E4 Fellowship position is offered will be expected, upon acceptance, to commit to a one-year term.

  • A statement of interest that explains how this postdoctoral fellowship aligns with your research interests and career goals (no more than three pages double-spaced). Please include evidence of your experience/commitment to collaborative research with school practitioners, district leaders, and policy specialists that produces knowledge that is relevant and useful.
  • A statement of research plans for 2022-23 that describes one or more potential projects that you might pursue using Curriculum Associates’ data, recognizing your ideas may shift during the postdoctoral fellowship period (no more than three pages double-spaced).
  • Letter of support from PhD advisor

Criteria for Selection

Applicants will be selected on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Compelling match between possible research and E4 needs
  • Relevance of potential research for school district and policy partners
