Postdoctoral Training Opportunity - Brain Tumor Research

The Becher Laboratory at Northwestern University – Feinberg School of Medicine is seeking a qualified individual for a newly available postdoctoral position. The lab focuses on brain tumor research using genetic mouse models with a focus on diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), an incurable type of brain cancer that arises in the brainstem of children.

These studies encompass the development of new brain tumor models, mechanistic investigation of novel oncogenes in gliomagenesis (e.g. ALK2/ACVR1, H3K27M) as well as the evaluation of novel therapeutics including immunotherapy. The laboratory utilizes techniques including deep RNA sequencing, ChIP-seq, flow cytometry, Western blotting, RT-PCR.

Requirements

  •  Applicants must have a recent MD and/or PhD degree in immunology, cell biology, neuroscience and/or anatomy.
  • Previous familiarity with chromatin assays, transgenic mouse modeling, cell culture work, and biochemical and molecular biological techniques, is preferable.
  • To be competitive for this position, the applicant will have a proven research track record of productivity, creativity and excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
