Postdoctoral Training Opportunity - Basic & Translational Breast Cancer Research
A postdoc position is immediately available in a breast cancer research lab (Dai Horiuchi, Principal Investigator) at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center in Chicago.
The focus of the lab is to study the mechanisms of tumor progression in breast cancer (triple-negative breast cancer/TNBC) and to identify novel treatment strategies. To achieve these goals, the lab utilizes a collection of human breast cancer cell lines, preclinical animal models, primary tumor organoids, and high-throughput screening approaches along with state-of-the-art bioinformatics through collaboration with experts in the field. They are determined to help bring basic laboratory findings to clinical testing, and their research involves dynamic interactions with clinicians here at Northwestern Medicine and industry partners.
Qualifications
The lab is seeking a highly motivated, Ph.D. level researcher with prior in-depth training in (breast) cancer research involving rodent animal models (e.g., transgenic/syngeneic/PDX) as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications. Fundamental molecular biology/cell biology skills are also required (e.g., cloning, gene-editing, virus-mediated gene expression, and light microscopy).
They are particularly interested in identifying a new team member in the following areas of research:
- Identification and preclinical validation of novel therapeutic targets, targeted therapeutic strategies, and their translation to early-stage clinical testing in collaboration with clinicians.
- This project requires a familiarity with three-dimensional cell culture methods (e.g., Matrigel, spheres, primary organoids, co-culture) and high- throughput high-content screening approaches using BioTek Cytation 5 and Molecular Devices ImageXpress Micro Confocal System.
- This project may also involve investigating how primary TNBC tumors interact with microenvironmental components.
