Postdoctoral Fellowship Opportunity - Immunology of Adult & Pediatric Lung Disease
One of the top-ranked universities in the country, Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine, located in downtown Chicago, combines innovative technology and cutting-edge research in a highly collaborative environment.
The Ridge Lab is looking to recruit self-motivated postdoctoral scientists/trainees in the Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and Department of Cell and Molecular Biology in the Feinberg School of Medicine. The lab investigates the cytoskeletal protein vimentin and its role in pulmonary health and disease. They are especially interested in studying the roles of vimentin in immune cells and the crosstalk during lung disease.
Highly motivated individuals with strong interests in the areas of immunology, cancer biology, genomics, and translational research are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates must be self-driven with excellent organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing experiments, analyzing data, and working with the PI to design experimental approaches.
Studies will interrogate cell-signaling mechanisms in primary cells by molecular biology and with state of the art genomics approaches. Mechanistic studies will be coupled with tests of physiological and metabolic relevance in animal models and compared to human diseased tissue. In vivo experiments will be assayed by flow cytometry, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and histology.
- Surgical, flow cytometry, and histology skills are preferred but not immediately required and can be learned during the course of studies.
- A fundamental training in cell or molecular biology is preferred.
- Experience with next generation sequencing and/or bioinformatics is a plus.
- Grant writing for training awards is encouraged and supported.
